Our Mentors

I am an investment professional with experience in Fixed Income and ESG. I am currently working as an Associate Portfolio Manager at JPMorgan Asset Management. I started my career as a Fixed Income Trader at the State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Later I moved to the UK and worked in different asset management companies before joining JPMorgan. I hold a BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance from The University of Manchester, an MSc in Investment Management from Bayes Business School, and a Master of Finance degree from the University of Cambridge. I am also a CFA charterholder. My professional experience expands beyond macroeconomic analysis, financial markets, trading and portfolio management in fixed income space. I also have experience in ESG and its integration into portfolio management. I am friendly and diligent and always continue to learn and develop myself and share my knowledge and experience. I also believe in an equal society and that everyone should be treated with mutual respect and dignity irrespective of their social economic status. I can help mentees develop their skills in finance, strategy, macroeconomics, and foreign languages as well as support their career development in Azerbaijan and abroad and their pursuit of education.

Rustam Muradov

Portfolio Manager, United Kingdom

I graduated from BSU with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Law and State Law, respectively. I also have a master’s degree in International Commercial Law from the University of Leicester, England, and a postgraduate degree in Strategy and Innovation from the Said Business School at Oxford University. I have been working in the banking sector for about 10 years, as well as in private and public sector law positions, and have taught Masters in Financial and Business Law at BSU and ASUE. Since 2019, I have been engaged in permanent work, as well as individual legal and corporate consulting activities, so I was able to get acquainted with the business processes in different areas. I love photography, travel and extreme sports. In recent years, I have become more interested in human psychology. My personal qualities include honesty, fairness, freedom-loving, purposefulness, teamwork and leadership. Environment and responsible consumption are important issues for me, and I have organized numerous volunteerly community gatherings to collect garbage on the beach and in the forests. I think besides sharing my professional knowledge, skills, and educational experience, I can help my mentee to use her skills more effectively and assist in career development.

Rugiyya Hacizade

Legal Manager, Lawyer, Mediator, Trainer-Expert, Independent Consultant, Azerbaijan

In 1993-2000, I received a bachelor’s degree from Khazar University, Faculty of International Relations, and later a master’s degree in International Law. In 2004-2006, I received a Master’s degree in International Development from the University of Manchester sponsored by Chevening Fellowship in the United Kingdom. I am currently studying for a management degree at INSEAD University in France.

For almost 20 years, I have been in leading positions in the UN, USAID and other influential international organizations. As an international organization and donor policy specialist, I managed and implemented large scale projects, attracting funding for institutional development, intra-organizational behavior and the development of vulnerable groups.

As the head of the International Relations Department of the Karabakh Community in 2019-2021, I was invited to many international conferences as a spokesman. I am the author of numerous articles on the promotion of Karabakh’s cultural heritage, as well as the host in the media program “Karabakhname”.

As a professional coach and mentor, I can help my mentee in strategic career development.

Aybeniz İsmayilova

Fundraising and Communication Expert, Azerbaijan

I have over 15 years of experience in training and consulting. Moreover, I am experienced in corporate lending, business development and project management. I work as a freelance project manager and consultant for SMEs in Greater Toronto Area and Baku. I hold MS in Finance, Lund University, Sweden. I am PMP, CSM certified professional. Interest areas: project management/scrum, business processes development and organizational process gap analysis. Currently I work as a Project Manager at Beyond  Digital Marketing Agency (Baku and Toronto); helping the team to succeed in digital marketing projects; helping SME transform their models while growing.

I love learning and sharing. I voluntarily commit in start-up trainings and webinars for students. I can support my mentee in financial analysis, management, strategy building, green lifestyle, foreign languages learning, teamwork, use of Office programs, career building and job search, study and training abroad.

Saida Huseyn

Project Manager, Canada

After graduating from Khazar University with a bachelor’s degree in General Psychology, I worked as a human resources specialist at various companies. I have been living in Massachusetts, the USA since 2018. After completing my investment operations certification here, I started working as an investment pricing analyst at JPMorgan Investment Banking.
Throughout my professional career, my articles on various psychological and social topics have been published. I contributed to the creation of several large-scale automated systems in Human Resources. My experience includes recruitment, onboarding, documentation, and training.

At present, I participate in training programs on trading and investment, and quality assurance.
As a mentor, I can help my students in their career development and the emotional aspects throughout this process. In addition, I can share with them my knowledge about human resource management and investment/trading. I can also help them to improve their English language skills.

Khadija Ashurova

Investment Pricing Analyst, United States

While still in high school, I received a scholarship to study in the United States. After returning, I studied at the Azerbaijan State University of Economics on Automated systems of information processing and management. At that time, I realized that I really wanted to do different things in life.

I have worked in many local and foreign organizations in Azerbaijan. My first job was with Azercell when I was a student, and then I worked in Azerenergy and Azenco in the field of environment. After that, I received another scholarship to continue my education (co-funded by the Fulbright Foreign Student Program and the State Program) and was admitted to the most prestigious environmental program in the United States – a master’s degree in environmental policy and natural resources management from Indiana University. During my university years I was an active player in “What ʔ Where ʔ When ʔ” and “Brain ring” intellectual games.

After that, I returned to Azerbaijan and worked in various positions at the German Corporation for International Cooperation, the Energy Regulatory Agency under the Ministry of Energy, the World Bank project and the Regional Environmental Center for the Caucasus. I also taught Environmental Science at ADA University for 2 years.

I am sociable, punctual, hardworking and goal-oriented person. I have just moved to Canada and I am a consultant for the United Nations Environment Program on the adaptation of the Caspian Sea coastal areas to climate change.

As a mentor, I can share my technical knowledge on environment and energy as well local energy legislation, also help my students develop their careers and share my advice on studying abroad. I can also support my mentee with my communication skills and experience in public administration and international organizations.

Tomris Bayramova

Project Manager (Ecology and Energy), Azerbaijan & Canada

I have more than 20 years of experience in developing and implementing inclusive ECD programs focusing on children and families from marginalized and disadvantaged communities. My last role as a Program Officer with the Open Society Foundation’s (OSF) Early Childhood Program focused on building capacity of early years organizations and workforce, including in countries affected by conflict. Prior to OSF, I worked for a major national early years organization in the UK, leading its flagship early years workforce capacity building initiative and campaigned for quality education for youngest children. I have also led the pilot inclusive pre and primary education project in Azerbaijan, resulting in introduction of teacher assistant position in primary schools. The program resulted in a three years National Action Plan for Inclusive Education approved and funded by the government of Azerbaijan. As a consultant I worked with international and national organizations, including UNICEF and World Bank, to evaluate and document evidence from their interventions and services.

Currently I work for insurance start-up company which is my first challenge in b2b business. Along with it I am volunteer for Home Start London, providing weekly parenting support sessions for families living in poverty. I also run an organisation, Regional Development Initiative in Azerbaijan, aiming at building the capacity of youth through training, networking and capacity building.

I value honesty and treat others with respect and dignity regardless of their social economic status. I believe in power of human interaction and empathy and use it to bring likeminded people together for the betterment of communities.

As a mentor I will be happy to provide support in the following areas: financial analyses, leadership, management, negotiation skills, strategy, teamwork, study abroad.

Almaz Ismayil

Manager , United Kingdom

I am currently working as the Regional Humanitar Rights Officer with the World Organization Against Torture (OMCT) in Belgium.

My previous experience has been with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine and Colombia, working in programs aiming at the protection of civilian population and promotion of International Humantiarian Law (IHL) during conflicts. I have earned my BA in International Relations from Azerbaijan University of Languages and MA in Internation Humanitarian Action from Fordham University, NY.

I value lifelong education and l enjoy leaving my confort zone, trying out new work and life experiences.

I enjoy working with youth. I would like to share my experience in international organizations, as well humanitarian sector, learning foreign languages, working in a team, education abroad with the students that I will be mentoring.

 

Arzu Mammadova

Regional Human Rights Officer , Belgium

During my 15 years of professional activity, I have signed up to build different local and international businesses and projects. I was the author of the idea and project coordinator of the first business-format TV project in Azerbaijan – Idea Won. After graduating from the United Kingdom, I worked for AZENCO OJSC and left 2 years later to start my first business. I currently manage the Kiev branch of my company in Ukraine.

My experience is based on private sector management, human resource management, project planning and B2B sales. Education is an MBA program in Business Administration.

I am a sociable person who prefers sincere relationships. I can be polite to the people in front of me, listen to them and respect diversity. I work at the local level to protect nature and reduce waste. I am currently on maternity leave, developing my skills as a parent and working on myself. I explore new business ideas.

As a mentor, I can help my student develop his career. I can also support the teaching of the necessary knowledge and skills in human resource management and the development of trade, logistics and development policies in the private sector.

 

Konul Aliyeva

Entrepreneur, Azerbaijan & Ukraine

I am a finance professional with significant experience across audit and banking industries having worked in the UK, Hong Kong and Azerbaijan. I am currently working at HSBC as an investment banking analyst providing financing opportunities for large multinationals and private equity backed companies. I am also fully ACCA qualified having previously worked at one of the Big4 audit companies and can guide students who are wishing to study for ACCA in future. 

I have studied my bachelor degree at the University of Manchester and been mentoring second year university students for a few years now. During my time at University and subsequently, I have done voluntary activities including involvement in AIESEC (global youth organisation), various student societies and marshalling at Formula 1. 

I am keen to mentor individuals wishing to pursue a career in finance industry, learning English and education abroad.
